I recently joined Facebook to silence my friends' constant ridicules about not having a Facebook account. So far the site has been great tool in keeping in-touch with friends and family but I have been unimpressed by the constant useless activities, live feed, poking, etc. I can't understand why people feel that they have to broadcast every single aspect of their lives.
Facebook is a great tool but some of the activities a entirely useless. If the same effort was used to generate useful resources such as scrabble game apps, tech trivia etc,  I believe we would be nurturing the young minds who spend a good amount of time on the site.

Do agree with me that Facebook  a purposeless time-waster not  a revolutionary way of networking as some have argued?

... a purposeless time-waster  ;D
But then it all depends on how you use the tool.
I agree with you that fb is great when I comes to socializing but it fails miserably when it comes to productive collaboration.
I feel that as an organization which entertains millions of children everyday, Facebook should take it upon themselves to provide a conducive medium though which these individuals can better themselves.
I just feel bad that Facebook is so addictive yet every second spent on the site is wasted because no worthy benefit is derived from using the site.
I just feel bad for all those kids who spend 4+ hours a night on fb poking and being poked.
I can’t believe that this is generation that is supposed to take care of us.  :(

Facebook used to be a purposeless time-waster a few years back but right now we can no longer ignore its potential in being a networking and interactive tool. Many employers are now scouting for for talent through facebook and other social media sites.
I think the issue is becoming more to do with the fact that employers are looking for something in addition to resumes to assess and individuals employability. So, adjust your profiles accordingly.
